KYB Minibuffers: Handling cautions

How to use KYB Minibuffers

1. In case you install a KYB Minibuffer, ensure that the load will be sustained at the centre of the piston rod (see fig. 1), otherwise it can be broken or bent.
2. In case there is a fear that the piston rod might receive a bending load, be sure to use a guide or a lever so that no bending load may be placed. (see fig. 2) Furthermore, since the Minibuffer return spring is used for the return of the piston rod, make sure to use a return mechanism for the guide or the lever as well.
3. In case of rotary motion, the Minibuffer must be so installed in a way that the centre line of the object  form a right angle with the buffer at the beginning of impact. Furthermore, be sure that the permissible rotating angle of the object (θ2) at the final point of the stroke is θ = 5° max.
4. KYB Minibuffer does not need a fixed stopper. Should, however, such a fixed stopper be used, ensure that it will be set just before the end of the stroke.
5. KYB Minibuffer is of non-demountable type, and once disassembled, functions as Minibuffer cannot be restored. Furthermore, there is a danger of its piston rod coming out. In no case, therefore, should it be disassembled.
6. Be sure that the resistance force of the mounting spot (bracket) is at least 3 times higher than the average resistance force of the Minibuffer (For specific values, see the model specification column shown).
7. Since working conditions of KYB Minibuffers are fixed as designed, use it within the maximum values in any case.
8. Nut-Tightening torque of KYB Minibuffer is shown below. Since suitable tightening torque is fixed by size, ensure that tightening will be done within the scope so set.

9. Environmental conditions:

1) In case the environmental temperature at which a KYB Minibuffer is to be used is lower than -10 ° C, contact us for consultation.
2) KYB Minibuffer must not be used where it might be directly exposed to working oil, cutting oil, water, etc.

10. In case you need to modify the head portion or the screw portion of the Minibuffer itself to adapt it your specific use, consult us..
11. In case of oil leak from KYB Minibuffer or of abnormal noise at time of impact, be sure to stop using it immediately and replace it with a new one..
12. Models with adjusting functions:

1) Regarding series with adjusting functions (KBM 11-40-6, KBM 20-50-2.3.4, each series of KBMA and KBA), in case of parallel use or in-line use of 2 pieces or more, be sure to set dials to the same reading.
2) In case of adjusting the relief valve of KBM 11-40-6 and KBM 20-50-2.3.4, be sure not to loosen the adjustable screw beyond the red line of the reading (Should this happen, there is a possibility of oil leakage).
3) The KBMA series Minibuffers cannot be used in the middle position of change-over graduating number (see fig. 5).
4) In case of a KBA series, when the impact object mass exceeds 1,000 Kg, particular care must be taken for adjustment.
5) In case of using KBA series, ensure that a fixed stopper will be used at the stroke end.
6) If a flange is installed for KBA series, be sure that the flange will be fixed in the front side of the bracket (see fig. 6).
